UNLAWFUL DETAINER TRIAL DELAY REDUCTION PROGRAM
BEGINS APRIL 2, 2001

The Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, announces the implementation of an Unlawful Detainer Trial Delay Reduction Pilot Program, commencing April 2, 2001, and continuing for nine months. The pilot program is designed to address a backlog of pending cases, and to promote the timely resolution of Unlawful Detainer cases within statutory time limits.

The program is comprised of four key elements:

  • Deleting the limitation on Unlawful Detainer jury panels.
  • Expansion of the inventory of available courtrooms.
  • Provision of specialized judicial training.
  • Streamlining the case scheduling procedures.

The Court files and processes over 8,000 Unlawful Detainer cases annually. Unlawful Detainer cases are filed and processed in six court facilities in the County. The facilities are located in the cities of Alameda, Berkeley, Fremont, Hayward, Oakland and Pleasanton.

The contact person for this release is Benjamin Stough, Trial Court Administrator, at (510) 644-8996.
